2024 STEM Summer Camp - Day 2: Engineering Bridges and Making Ice Cream

9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Salvation Army Lobby
Snacks and all supplies provided
Event Overview
Day two focused on engineering and problem-solving. Campers worked in teams to design and construct bridges using provided materials, testing their structures to see how much weight they could support. Through this challenge, students learned about structural stability, teamwork, and the engineering design process.
After putting their creativity and critical thinking skills to work, campers switched gears and explored chemistry by making ice cream in a bag. As they mixed ingredients and observed how salt lowered the freezing point of ice, students gained a better understanding of physical and chemical processes while enjoying a delicious treat.
The combination of engineering and chemistry made for an engaging day packed with learning and fun.

Campers explored engineering design and chemistry through bridge-building challenges and homemade ice cream.
